Community news, 7th February: Welsh cakes or Irish stew?

Published on February 18, 2025

In this fortnight's newsletter, read more about participating in our upcoming fundraising challenges, Cycle to UKREiiF, pedElle and Cycle to PAW, and how they make a difference, along with details of our current coffee rides in London and the south east, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Tickle your tastebuds...

If the mention of some regional dishes have whetted your appetite, let us direct you towards two of our upcoming fundraising challenges where you'll be able to get your fill!

Cycle to UKREiiF is heading through Wales en route to Leeds and UKREiiF in May this year, while pedElle will be exploring Ireland in search of stew and the promise of a good point of Guinness at the finish line in June.

If pastries are more your thing, our friendly coffee rides and regular laps sessions are open to everyone, whether you're training for a specific event or not. Find them in London and the south east, Manchester and Edinburgh.

Tackle the Welsh cakes, and valleys

Taking place 17th-19th May, Cycle to UKREiiF is back for its fourth year. This year, it starts on Wales' south coast at the gateway to the Welsh valleys. You’ll cycle 400kms over three days to your final destination in Leeds, and along the way, you’ll take in the dramatic scenery, picturesque landscapes, and the charming villages and towns of both countries.

This year, participants will be aiming to raise £40,000 to fund a fully-qualified NVQ Level 4 Cancer Exercise Specialist for Cyclists Fighting Cancer for two years. This dedicated specialist will be responsible for offering bespoke exercise and activity advice to those children living with cancer who have received a bike or trike from CFC.

Find out more about the route and register via the link below.

More of a Guinness gal?

In June 2025, pedElle - our charity challenge for women in property - will visit the beautiful west coast of Ireland, taking on some of the stunning Wild Atlantic Way and the breathtaking beauty of the Wicklow Mountains, while raising funds for our charity beneficiary Coram, supporting them to support young people leaving care without the support they need. More than one in ten care leavers aged 18 to 20 experience homelessness and your fundraising can create change that lasts a lifetime.

We're here with advice on training and fundraising, and we'll be hosting female-focused rides to help build confidence for those who've never undertaken a multi-day cycling challenge.

And here's why it matters...

As a charity, our mission is to make a difference, transforming the lives of children and young people by bringing like-minded people together to network, fundraise and ride. This year, our flagship funding rides will benefit children living with cancer, help those looking for a loving family or leaving care, and support young people in realising their potential.

More than 60 people from across the property industry are currently training and fundraising hard for Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM next month. If you know someone riding, please do give them your support in whatever way you can - cheerleading, training with or sponsoring them. You can find out more about this year's fundraising target here.

If you are interested in taking on a challenge that makes a difference, then take a look at our upcoming fundraising events: Cycle to PAW, Cycle to UKREiiF and pedElle.
