Meet the riders: Sophie Levack, Lockton
Sophie Levack, account executive at Lockton, is joining Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM for the first time. She's a late entrant to the ride - stepping in for a colleague who picked up an injury - she's been training with determination since January.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you're working on right now:
I am an account executive at Lockton and I work within the real estate and construction team in the London office. I joined the Lockton team nearly three years ago, having spent three years at an alternative brokerage, and even across my tenure I have seen the Lockton team grow from 120 to almost 200 associates. As an account executive, my role is to first and foremost understand our clients, help develop their needs and requirements as it pertains to their real estate risks, and ultimately place their insurances supported by my direct team. Within my team specifically, we specialise in both UK and European risks, where I may use local partners and international offices to support the placement.
How did you get involved in Cycle to MIPIM?
I joined Cycle to MIPIM not only for the business pursuit but to foster a sense of community and teamwork among my colleagues, aligning our company with a meaningful cause. It's an opportunity to make a positive impact on society while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle within Lockton culture. Ultimately, participating in this event allows us to contribute to a greater purpose and showcase one of my core passions.
What are you most looking forward to?
Whilst I am certainly looking forward to the cycle and the huge charitable effort that entails, I am most looking forward to getting to Cannes, meeting new people and expanding my network. This trip embodies two of my passions, fitness and networking, and allows me to raise money for some excellent causes – what is there not to look forward to!
What are you dreading?
The hills! (Oh, and the early morning alarms.)
How are you approaching training?
I am actually a late entrant to the race, having secured my spot following my colleague (and avid cyclist) picking up an injury during their training. Despite that, I am approaching training with a fierce attitude, and getting out on my bike as much as possible! I have been a long-time proponent of staying fit, having spent many many hours on a static bike which I am hoping will pay dividends on the tougher portions of the journey. Other than that, I have spent some time reading and engaging with the charities, which I am hoping will provide the motivation I need to get me over the line.
Any top tips you’ve picked up that you’ll take with you on the ride?
Staying hydrated, eating well, and being a team player!
What would you most like to get out of the event?
Whilst the cycle will be a challenge, and I am excited to work at a new challenge with my colleagues, ultimately I would like to make new connections, raise money for Club Peloton's amazing charites and just have fun!
Good luck Sophie! Find her fundraising page here.
