Meet the riders: Matt Sherratt, Lockton
Matt Sherratt, a member of the Financial Institutions Team at Lockton Companies LLP, will be participating in Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM for the first time this year. Like many others, he's balancing training with a young family, but is ready to take on the challenge.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you're working on right now:
I am a member of the Financial Institutions Team, where my focus is on Real Estate. In this capacity, I specialise in crafting tailored corporate insurance solutions for Real Estate companies with significant financial exposure.
How did you get involved in Cycle to MIPIM?
For the fourth year, Lockton is sponsoring the Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM as a team sponsor. Last year I was at the finish line congratulating all the riders as they came in to Cannes, and I decided then that I would take part in the cycle this year.
What are you most looking forward to?
The French scenery and sharing those breathtaking moments with other riders. Working together as a team and seeing the peloton in perfect synergy.
What are you dreading?
I am dreading terrible weather. Last year sounded tough due to the weather conditions, but I am hopeful for decent weather this year. Less of the 40mph headwinds and more sunshine please!
How are you approaching training?
Training is hard with two young kids but I am trying to squeeze in three indoor rides mid-week, after work, bath time and bedtime. And then one longer ride on the weekend in the saddle.
Any top tips you’ve picked up that you’ll take with you on the ride?
Always prepare the night before and eat as much as possible on the ride, every 30 minutes at least. To me, that sounds perfect, I love snacking!
What would you most like to get out of the event?
I would obviously love to hit our personal Lockton fundraising goal of £10,000, supporting three wonderful charities, but I am also looking forward to the new connections and friendships with like-minded individuals who I could continue riding with in the future.
We wish Matt the best of luck and sunshine and snacks all the way. Find Matt's fundraising page here.
