Meet the pedElle 2023 riders: Polly Smart, Knight Frank
We speak to Polly Smart, Senior Surveyor at Knight Frank, about what she's looking forward to on her first pedElle.
Tell us a little about your and your job role: I’ve worked in the Bristol market for the last 5 years and I joined the Knight Frank Bristol office agency team two years ago. I love challenges but this will be my first one for charity which makes it that bit more special.
Have you done pedElle before? No, this is my first time!
What’s the one piece of advice you’d pass on to new riders? Always have a café stop on your route and try and cycle with friends/family as it makes it much more enjoyable!
How have you approached training? Based in Bristol, it’s been a bit more challenging to join the training rides out of London, therefore I’ve roped in my Dad and brother to train with me who are both cycling mad. They’ve been really encouraging and told me to keep smiling up the hills… I’m yet to figure out whether it makes them easier!
What are you most looking forward to about riding in Slovenia? Meeting some amazing ladies in the property industry, whilst taking in the beautiful Slovenian scenery.
What are you not looking forward to? The pain of sitting on my saddle on day 3 when everything hurts after completing the mammoth amount of climbing on day 2!
How are you connecting with other pedElle riders? Both our KF pedElle and the wider pedElle WhatAapp groups are the best place to hear past stories of pedElle and everyone’s outfit ideas and music choices for the upcoming trip.
How does the charity element of the ride keep you motivated? Knowing the pain of cycling up a hill is so worth it when remembering the bigger picture of the fantastic role of Club Peloton and knowing the money raised will make a huge difference to young lives and families.
