Meet the pedElle 2023 riders: Victoria Garrett
With pedElle fast approaching, we spoke to Knight Frank rider Victoria Garrett, Head of Residential, Asia Pacific, about her expectations for her first pedElle.
Tell us a little about you and your job role:
I am a 42 year old mother of two boys, Orlando (11) and Xander (8), who enjoys a challenge. I have been working for KF for 13 years, the last six of which I have been based in Singapore. My role oversees the residential business for Asia Pacific which a fun and varied role getting to understand, build strategies and work with very different cultures and markets and includes at times a fair amount of travel.
Have you done pedElle before?
No, this is my first year doing PedElle!
What’s the one piece of advice you’d pass on to new riders?
Don’t be put off putting your hand up if you haven’t cycled before.
How have you approached training?
I have as done as much as I can around a busy work and home life schedule. Doing not only cycling to get ready and fit but also personal training, yoga and pilates as well. Also due to being based in Singapore which is very humid and not very hilly, I have done part of my training on a static bike.
What are you most looking forward to about riding in Slovenia?
Getting to know the other women doing PedElle and seeing the beautiful scenery that will hopefully distract a little from the pain of getting up the inclines!
What are you not looking forward to?
The inclines!!
How are you connecting with other pedElle riders?
We have connected via WhatsApp groups sharing tips and motivating each other with our training. Also through LinkedIn. As I am not based in the UK I haven’t been able to join any of the training rides organised sadly.
How does the charity element of the ride keep you motivated?
This is hugely important to me and will be inspiring me to dig deep when it gets really tough during the ride!
