Meet the pedElle 2023 riders: Eleanor Hulm, DP9

Published on June 12, 2023

pedElle 2023 is almost here. We spoke to Eleanor Hulm, Planner at DP9, about returning to pedElle for a second time after the 'flat one'!

Tell us a little about your and your job role: I’m also a planning consultant at DP9, a Town Planning Consultancy, and we work alongside developers, architects, and the wider project teams to get planning permission for new developments. I work on around 20 projects across London, including a large amount of commercial projects within the City of Westminster and a major residential masterplan in the London Borough of Newham.

Have you done pedElle before? I cycled the Vienna to Budapest ‘flat as a pancake’ 2022 pedElle ride!

What’s the one piece of advice you’d pass on to new riders? Invest in padded shorts, don’t wear underwear with your padded shorts and trust in the padded shorts.

How have you approached training? I cycle to work, gym most weekday mornings, hit up a few spin classes and aim for at least one 100km ride a week!

What are you most looking forward to about riding in Slovenia? Lake Bled – can’t wait.

What are you not looking forward to? The outrageous 2,500m of elevation on the second day.

How are you connecting with other pedElle riders? The training rides have been great and so is our group WhatsApp.

How does the charity element of the ride keep you motivated? Supporting Coram, Cyclists Fighting Cancer and the other wonderful charities provides a real purpose to what we’re aiming to achieve – especially when we’ve been able to raise SO much, you know it will really make a difference.
