Auxerre to Chalon-sur-Soane

After another rainy start to the day, the weather gods decided to look a little more benignly on the wind-battered and weary peloton. The rain dried up, the winds abated and spirits lifted. It was another 200kms day in the saddle but Teams Vectos, HTA Design and Lockton all took their turns on the front, leading the peloton further south towards Cannes.

Soissons to Auxerre - The day of (more) weatherToday starts with rain (stage 1), continues with rain (stage 2), changes to wind (stage 3), followed by a lot of very brutal wind (stage 4). By the fifth and final stage, some battered bodies take to the coach while others head out for the final stage towards Auxerre. We cannot tell you how brutal it was out there today, but the riders will tell you.

Chalon-sur-Saone to Valence - Feeling whizzyDay 5 is the longest day of the event, at 267kms. But with the weather drying out, a beautiful sunny afternoon, and some lovely climbs, the peloton has 'ridden into' the event, arriving into cafe stops and lunch ahead of schedule.
