Meet the riders: Lizzy Hamshere, Lockton

Published on February 10, 2025

Lizzy Hamshere from team sponsor Lockton is riding Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM 2025 for the first time. Her motivation is the charity aspect - and that of trying something completely different.

  • Tell us about yourself and what you’re working on right now:

I am an account handler at Lockton working within the Real Estate and Construction team. In this capacity, I support our clients by finding insurance solutions to any and all of their complex needs. I joined the team around two years ago after completing my degrees in Psychology and Criminology at the University of Birmingham and the University of Melbourne respectively.

  • How did you get involved in Cycle to MIPIM?

I have always been a very active person, albeit focussing on team sports, gym and running. In the spirit of challenging myself, I decided to branch out and try something completely different.

  • What are you most looking forward to?

The beautiful French scenery and working as part of a team to complete something pretty special.

  • What are you dreading?

All of the hills and the cold weather – fingers crossed for some sunshine!

  • How are you approaching training?

I am in the middle of the netball season and go to the gym and run on top of this already. I will be adding x2 cycles mid-week and x2 cycles on the weekends to that (pray for me).

  • Any top tips you’ve picked up that you’ll take with you on the event?

Lots of snacking and chatting along the way to keep me full of energy and in a positive mindset.

  • What would you most like to get out of the event?

I am really looking forward to a good challenge from a personal perspective but would love to raise as much money as possible for the charities that we are supporting. I’m also looking forward to meeting some new people along the way!

  • What does the fundraising mean to you?

Whatever the goal, fundraising brings a sense of motivation and unity. Achieving something for others is an unparalleled feeling and working alongside the other cyclists to make it happen will feel even sweeter.
