Meet the riders: Sophie Levack, Lockton
Sophie Levack of team sponsor Lockton is riding Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM 2025 for the second time. On her first outing last year, Sophie rode the four-day route and she's back with the same positive attitude for this year's challenge.
Tell us about yourself and what you’re working on right now:
I am an account executive at Lockton and I work within the real estate and construction team in the London office. I joined the Lockton team nearly four years ago, having spent three years at an alternative brokerage, and even across my tenure I have seen the Lockton team grow from 120 to almost 220 associates. As an account executive, my role is to first and foremost understand our clients, help develop their needs and requirements as it pertains to their real estate risks, and ultimately place their insurances supported by my direct team. Within my team specifically, we specialise in both UK and European risks, where I may use local partners and international offices to support the placement.
How did you get involved in Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM?
I first heard about Cycle to MIPIM through colleagues in the real estate industry. Their stories about the camaraderie, challenge, and the incredible cause it supports inspired me to sign up last year. Returning for my second ride this year feels like an amazing opportunity to build on that experience and contribute even more.
How long have you been cycling and how did you get into it?
I started cycling about three years ago, initially as a way to stay fit and explore my local area. What began as a weekend hobby quickly turned into a passion. The sense of freedom and the mental clarity that cycling provides is unmatched.
What have you most enjoyed about riding Cycle to MIPIM previously?
The connections I made during last year’s ride were the highlight for me. There’s something about sharing the ups and downs of a multi-day ride that bonds us all together. I also loved seeing the stunning landscapes and experiencing the energy of riding as part of a team.
What are you most looking forward to?
I’m most looking forward to reconnecting with riders from last year and meeting new people. There’s a real buzz that comes from being part of such a dynamic group working towards a shared goal, both on the bike and in our fundraising efforts.
What are you dreading?
Honestly, the long climbs are always a challenge. They test both your physical and mental strength. But knowing there’s a supportive group around you makes it easier to push through.
How are you approaching training?
My training includes a mix of long weekend rides to build endurance and shorter, more intense sessions during the week to improve speed and strength. I’m also incorporating strength training and stretching to stay injury-free.
Any top tips for new riders?
Stay consistent with your training and listen to your body. Also, don’t underestimate the importance of a proper bike fit - it can make a huge difference in your comfort and performance. Finally, remember to enjoy the journey; it’s not just about the destination.
What would you most like to get out of the event?
I’d love to deepen my connections within the industry and challenge myself both physically and mentally. Most importantly, I hope to contribute significantly to the fundraising efforts and support the incredible causes this event champions.
What does the fundraising mean to you?
The fundraising aspect is deeply personal. Knowing that the money we raise has a tangible impact on people’s lives makes every mile worthwhile. It’s a reminder that our collective effort can drive meaningful change.
What changes does your business expect to see over the next year?
The real estate sector is evolving rapidly, with sustainability and technology driving significant shifts. Our business is focused on helping clients navigate these changes, offering tailored insurance solutions to address emerging risks and opportunities.
