Meet the riders: Mark Woolcott, Knight Frank

Published on February 9, 2022

In our latest interview with Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM riders, we meet Mark Woolcott from headline sponsor Knight Frank

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I'm a Senior Building Manager. I work for Knight Frank Promise and have done for just over 12 years. I work on commercial buildings as part of the Facilities Management Team. I run a couple of large sites myself, line manage other Building Managers, and also assist with mentoring newer Building Managers and cover.

What are you most looking forward to about Cycle to MIPIM?

I’ve always been interested in taking part in the ride and can’t wait to get started, meet like-minded people and get to cycle with new scenery. I think the challenge alone lured me into doing it but being part of a team will be great.

What are you dreading / have you been warned about?

It will have to be the early starts and managing that with socialising the evening before. I’ve been warned to consume as much as you practically can and that you’ll be forever hungry for a week after.

How are you approaching training?

I’ve been increasing my amount of days cycling into the office. I’ve done a couple of weekend rides but the longer rides start now to try and get used to the consecutive days in the saddle.

What would you most like to get out of the ride?

Raising money for good causes will be the biggest driver, apart from the ride itself. My colleague Will Monk suddenly passed away last June: he cycled it every year. I can’t begin to explain what he did for my career, his support both workwise and personally was amazing. I’d really like to do it for him and the rest of our department, along with my colleague and room mate Robin Stevenson.

What have been the biggest changes or shifts you have see in the Property Asset Management (PAM) over the past 18-24 months?

Seeing how well we adapted throughout all the lockdowns, and although further apart, how closer as a team we have all got. The department continues to grow, with new instructions being won by the team and new initiatives being put in place.

What changes do you expect to see over the next 12-18 months?

I can definitely see the department growing even further. Everyone who joins us is surprised by the amount of support and attention to detail there is with our personnel and processes. 2022 is going to be a big year!
