Moulins to Grenoble - 256kms

Today was always going to be tough with 335kms to cover, and so it was, although for different reasons than expected. A 4.30am breakfast followed by a 5.30am rollout from Moulins meant Stage 1 riders rode into the dawn. Throughout the morning, Teams SLR, Lockton and ME Engineers made great time stage-by-stage - a cohesive peloton eating up the kms (as well as traybakes, bananas, Soreen, baguettes, fougasse and more) through the rural French countryside.

After completing almost 200kms in dry conditions over four stages, the forecast rain finally arrived, making the roads slippery and conditions extremely challenging. After completing another 57kms, the decision was taken to cancel the last stage of the day for the safety of the riders.
