On the 12th June, retail property industry professionals came together at Wembley Park’s BoxPark for the launch of Cycle to MAPIC 2019. With Wembley Park at the helm as the new headline sponsor, and a new route to unveil, the evening was an opportunity to find out what this year’s event has in store.

Testament to the relationships forged by previous Cycle to MAPICs, there were plenty of familiar faces in attendance to provide insight and tell stories of their experiences fundraising and networking on the way to MAPIC, the annual retail property conference.

This year’s brand new route will go from Le Puy to Cannes, covering approx the same distance (520km) and amount of climbing (6700m) as in previous years but over three days instead of four. It will be a good opportunity to test climbing legs and take in three of France’s incredible national parks – Monts d’Ardeche, Cevennes and Verdon – as well as the Bonnieux climb and gorge descent, which remains a firm favourite amongst Cycle to MIPIM riders every March).

Riders’ outward flights and transport, accommodation and food and snacks, as well as a full support team are all covered by the entry fee. Club Peloton events are all well-supported, with an incredible team of mechanics, sports injury therapists, a medic, lead car and more, enabling participants to concentrate solely on the cycling challenge. And whether a returning rider or someone completely new to cycling, everyone will be supported to get on a bike and start training.

Riders will be required to raise a minimum of £1000 each. They will be fundraising for Coram, Club Peloton’s main charity beneficiary, and a number of other charities.

Corporate support is crucial to the ride and there are opportunities for companies to be involved as sponsors of the teams, mechanics and more. Matthew Slade from Wembley Park gave the attendees a few words about what it means to be a corporate sponsor, being able to support the ride, and what Wembley Park is looking forward to as headline sponsor.
