Cyclists Fighting Cancer at Great Ormond Street Hospital’s activity day

Published on July 17, 2024

Alongside our charity beneficiary Cyclists Fighting Cancer, we were delighted to attend Great Ormond Street Hospital’s activity day last weekend.

Activity days demonstrate the importance of exercise and activity to patients currently undergoing treatment for cancer and encouraging those that have finished to get involved and to give everything a try. Hundreds of GOSH patients joined GOSH for an incredible day filled with sports and activities, all designed to support their long-term recovery, alongside ward staff, volunteers, and partners from other charities and local sports clubs.

Cyclists Fighting Cancer took a range of bikes and trikes so that children of all ages and abilities could have a go at pedalling around the track. On the day, they also gave out four bikes and one trike to families to take home with them, and took a further 22 applications for bikes and trikes.

So far this year Cyclists Fighting Cancer has attending activity days at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and GOSH. Later this year they will be attending similar days at Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge, Bristol, Newcastle and Sheffield.

It was a fantastic day, and incredible to witness the impact that cycling has, not only on these young lives but also on their families.
