Day 1: Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM 2024

Published on March 6, 2024

London to Folkestone

After snow cancelled play on day 1 of last year's Cycle to MIPIM, today's dry, grey start is appreciated. From the leafy setting of the Horniman Museum and Gardens (and breakfast in the impressive Victorian conservatory), the 53 riders of the 7-day route head south east out of London into the garden of England. Passing through picturesque villages and a countryside sprinkled with oast houses, Kent's daffodils and primroses and the warmth of the sun bring a hint of the coming Spring to proceedings.

The peloton, today consisting of riders from all three teams - Lockton, Longevity and SLR - gel together almost immediately. They keep a neat and tidy formation on the road and come into every stop ahead of time. It's a swift transfer from Folkestone to Calais for a double carb dinner of lasagne and chips, ready for Day 2's efforts tomorrow.
