With just three weeks to go until the Legal & General Real Assets pedElle 2017 departs Porto for Lisbon, we spoke to our friends at CycleFit about why a bike fit and saddle fit are so important.

Why get a bike fit?

You may think there’s not much wrong with your riding position, but if you’re experiencing any niggles on a shorter ride, then these will be amplified over the three long days in the saddle that will take place on pedElle, or any other long ride for that matter.

As well as helping to optimise your riding position, a bike fit minimises the risk of injury, improves efficiency and makes your cycling more enjoyable. CycleFit offers bike fitting services for all levels of cyclist, and if you’re new to cycling, you’ll feel the benefits immediately.

Why get a saddle fit?

It goes without saying that being comfortable in your saddle over many hours is extremely important. The right saddle improves cycling comfort and performance. A professional saddle fitting will use the most advanced technology to help you find the best saddle and the optimum position, reducing saddle discomfort and eliminating numbness in the saddle area.

CycleFit’s highly trained cycling analysts use saddle pressure mapping to help determine the best riding position, saddle section and shoe/cleat setup. Saddle pressure mapping accurately measures pressure and visualises the rider’s contact with the saddle. Combined with the CycleFit cycling analyst’s knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, it provides objective feedback so that connection with the bike can be optimised and ensure an all-round more enjoyable ride.
